Last week after I revealed my shoe shelves and hanging hat storage, many of you asked where I keep the rest of my accessories and clothing
Drumroll please… In this custom built-in closet! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to post a full reveal of this wall of my office. Maybe because it rarely looks this pretty and organized?
Believe it or not, Nick and I actually designed and assembled these IKEA Pax wardrobes ourselves after ordering all the necessary components online. On the IKEA website you can create a 3D mockup of your future wardrobe that lets you see all the different drawer types, hanging rods, shelves, baskets and more. The PAX system is incredibly customizable and you can really create anything to suit your needs and the dimensions of your space.
If the thought of ordering a custom closet online sounds overwhelming, you can do all of this at an IKEA store too with help of an employee. I’d still recommend going into a store either way because it was really helpful seeing all the accessories and wardrobe styles in person. There’s a lot to choose from!
OUTFIT DETAILS // Pink Jumpsuit | Pink Knotted Sandals | Watch | David Yurman Bracelets
If you decide to do an IKEA PAX closet system, just be prepared for every component to arrive disassembled in small individual pieces. We put mine together over the course of a weekend– 5 hours on Saturday doing the first wardrobe and then it took another 3 hours on Sunday to do the second. It’s a 2-person job and requires some lifting, so I’d recommend paying extra for IKEA to assemble for you if you aren’t handy or have someone who can help you. Luckily my husband lives for this stuff and I was able to recruit him for the job
ROOM + DECOR DETAILS // Pink Velvet Chair | Area Rug | Marble Base Floor Lamp | Carpet | Tangerine Art Print | Floral Art Print | Fern Art Print | Botanical Leaf Print | Curtains | 2-Step Folding Step Stool | Beige Space-Saving Hangers
CLOSET + ORGANIZATIONAL ACCESSORIES // Canvas Storage Box | Woven White Rectangular Bins | Woven Grey Bins | 2-Step Folding Step Stool | Beige Space-Saving Hangers
I absolutely love my closet and would definitely recommend the IKEA PAX system. You can’t beat the price! In total we spent under $750 for both of my wardrobes. I’d looked into similar built-in closets from Container Store and California Closets and at both stores a similar setup would’ve cost upwards of $1,000+.
As you can see I utilize my built-in closet primarily for storing folded items and accessories like my handbags, shoes and jewelry. The drawers in my first large wardrobe are home to my activewear, denim, lounge clothes, bras, underwear and small accessories. My favorite drawer is definitely the one where I have my jewelry and sunglasses. For years I struggled to keep my small accessories organized and I love how these dividers separate everything in a functional, but beautiful way.

SHELF ORGANIZERS // Acrylic Purse Organizer | Canvas Storage Box | Woven White Rectangular Bins
The open shelves above my drawers contain a mix of bags and larger folded garments. Once the weather warms up for good I’ll likely move some of these to storage or inside my double door closet and swap in summer things.
You’ll notice my second wardrobe is slightly thinner than the first. In this one I decided to do half shelving for shoes I don’t wear frequently (I keep my everyday footwear here) and then a bar for hanging a few dresses, coats and longer garments. PS these are my favorite beige space-saving hangers! I also added a sliding bar with knobs on the right wall of the wardrobe to hang tote bags (would also be great for scarves, belts and ties!)
SMALL DRAWER STORAGE // Small Clear Drawer Organizers | White Stackable Drawers | Pink Velvet Chair | Area Rug | Marble Base Floor Lamp | Curtains | Tangerine Art Print | Floral Art Print | Fern Art Print | Botanical Leaf Print
SHOES + BAGS // Brown Leather Tote | Circle Tote | Sneakers | Snakeskin Print Sandals | Brown Sandals
The 3-stack of white drawers I keep in the wardrobe underneath the garment rod was actually purchased separately from this store. As you can see I use it for holding all my packing cubes, travel-size toiletries and hair accessories.
