13 travel essentials priced from $8 to buy during Nordstrom’s super sale

Things are, let’s say, weird right now — there’s no way around that. Airlines are operating on skeleton schedules, restaurants are either closed or serving takeout only and entire regions and countries are on lockdown trying to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

We’re all doing our part to flatten the curve by staying home so life can return to normal as quickly as is safely possible. Sadly, that’s included hitting the pause button on travel indefinitely.

So, while we’re not leaving our respective homes for the next, well, who knows how long, now might be a great time to do some retail therapy while simultaneously building up your reward balances so you’ll have plenty of points and miles to burn when it’s time to travel again. Trust us: That time will come.

If you’re in the market for a few new items, Nordstrom is having a massive sale right now, with up to 70% off already discounted and clearance items (and as always, free shipping). We know a lot of these items are not priorities for everyone right now, but for those of you who are still in a position to stock up for the future for less, this is your chance.

We’d normally tell you to use a shopping portal to get even more points and miles on your purchases, but unfortunately, you won’t find Nordstrom on any of them. We do have a workaround up our sleeves, though — if you’re targeted to save $50 at Amazon using just one American Express Membership Rewards point, you can potentially buy Nordstrom e-gift cards for 20% off.

Either way, you’ll also want to use a credit card that earns bonus points on shopping purchases. That way, you’ll be racking up the points and miles for your future travels in no time. Don’t forget to earn your Nordy Club rewards, too.
